Busy Mommy

Yes, the little girl is 3 years old in January and we had a small family event again.  I think she had weeks of fun ‘cos she gets to celebrate her birthday in school too.

The Ah Yees & Uncles bought her a laptop! Hopefully she stops playing with my laptop now

The 4 Poh Pohs & Gong Gongs gave her ang pohs

Uncle Damian gave her an activity book.

And we bought her the cake she chose herself….

I had also ordered another small Barney cake for Dawn to celebrate her birthday in school, on her actual day!

Pardon me for the blur photos as my right hand was still in bandaged after the operation.  Had to use my left hand to take the photos instead..

It was all her own imagination.  And she found her own props.  She used the blue bucket to represent the tall hat that chefs wear.

Kids can really think out of the box!

I was so happy when I received a call from the childcare centre on 31 Dec 2009 morning, that there’s an available place for Dawn !  A very delighted way to end my 2009 indeed!  Previously, I had called all the childcare centres near my place and being not the very-kiasu mum, I was horrified to know that I have to place Dawn in waiting list and my waiting number is as far as 200+ in one of the childcare centre!

I quickly accepted the offer and went down to the centre to do the registration on 2nd Jan 2010.  As there were things to get ready, it was rushed but I think it’s worth the effort. 

So today, 04 Jan 2010, a day where all schools reopens, Dawn goes to school too!

Look at her bag! So big! But actually it is quite light if it’s without the water bottle.  It contains the towel, clothes, toothbrush, mug etc.

The centre only allows 1 parent to go into the school so I left after a while, leaving my mum with her…aiya, should have leave for work from there and save my childcare leave

Oh, she was so happy that there’s food and when the teacher asked other kids whether they want breakfast, Dawn nodded to the teacher and tells me “Mama, Dawn Dawn wants to eat”.

And I think we had taught Dawn well as she knows how to hold her bowl and feed herself. 

Just hope that she will stay strong and happy.  I am rather worried about the “sick period”, but hopefully Dawn is strong!

Dawn had wanted us to buy her a pair of chopsticks after seeing us using chopsticks for our meals.  We can’t find a proper one for her and the training chopsticks (with cute thomas train and cartoon characters) that we see on carts and bulk purchase forum are not the ideal pair. Dear thinks that those with training loops are not ideal because the grip looks and feels incorrect.  After much consideration, we finally decided to chose the training chopsticks from Combi.

And so we passed the chopsticks to Dawn and we taught her how to pick up her small toys using the chopsticks. Dawn didn’t have much oppotunities to use the chopsticks because she ate rice or porridge most of the time and a spoon served her well.

So finally she has this opportunity when she was “taxing” my lunch of bee hoon..and I was amazed by her improvement!

Amazing issn’t? It is to me, because I myself didn’t know how to use a chopsticks till pretty late…kids nowadays are just amazing..

Oh ya, a closer look on the chopsticks in case mummies reading here wants to buy one too.  This cost about $11+ in Kiddy Palace.  It has something to hold the 2 chopsticks together, and the orange guide is to help the kid to position the hand. It had 2 points which allows one to chose for right or left hand usage.

It’s time to throw away Dawn’s potty…because she knows how to do this :

It’s tha time of the year again, happy because there’s more holidays in that month and half days for the eves.  Yeah! ;p

Dawn watched Barney’s VCDs and she was taught about Christmas. She was so excited to point out the Christmas trees at the shopping malls!

She can’t wait to take photo with the Christmas Tree @ Jurong Point even thought it is still work-in-progress.
