I am so glad that we tried this new eating place at Jurong Point.  After the first time we went there, both dear and me left with the same thoughts.  Jurong Point finally had something decent and different for us to eat.

We love sausages and rosti.  And we can’t find a restaurant in Jurong Point that has them.  And with decent pasta dishes to chose from.

1 Jurong West Central 2 #02-24
Jurong Point Shopping Centre
Singapore
Telephone: (65) 6795-9606

The pasta has a few different sauce to choose from.   Though it’s not heavenly, but it’s decent enough for a restaurant at a neighbourhood shopping mall.

We also ordered the fish and chips for Dawn…

Looks cripsy and delicious right? :D

We had also tried the paella, something which you will never get in another restaurant in Jurong Point.

I realised that I didn’t take any photos on the sausages and rosti! How can I forget them??! I must have been so eager to finish the food because they tasted so good! :D

What is worth mentioning about the rosti is, it is BETTER than those I had eaten in Mache. To be exact, MUCH BETTER. The potatoes are much finer, and they are cooked till cripsy at the outside.  Delicious!

So far for the 3 times we had visited them, the food were still up to our standard.  Hopefully the standard will not drop because food usually taste better when they 1st opened; this is true for most restaurant (personal experience).

What is Malacca if one never try the chicken rice balls, nyonya dishes and chendol?  It is like went to Paris but not seeing the Eiffel Tower!

We stopped by this restaurant at Jonker street to try the chicken rice balls for our early dinner.  It has lots of  celebraties’ photographs on the wall, stating how famous this restaurant is.

Apparently this place is not the best in the town for the chicken rice balls.  We were disappointed with the taste. The taste of the chicken is different from those we can find in Singapore. I still love the Singapore chicken rice..kind of felt that chicken rice balls are over-rated in Malacca..however, I may be wrong because we did not go to the right shop.

Malacca’s roast pork is also very different from Singapore style..the skin layer is much cripsy than in Singapore..

After the dinner, we passed by this stall.  I seem to remember that there were alot of good comments found in the Internet about the chendol they sell.

But look at the queue!! We made a grave mistake because we thought that since it’s only about 5+ and there’s a long queue, we will turn back and buy the chendol again.

WRONG! We did turn back and the queue was shorter…but their chendol was sold out! How disappointing :(

This is the entrance of the Jonker street..

We were there early and the streets were not closed for traffic yet. The hawkers were also busy setting up their stall…

Some random shots @ Jonker Street

Dear and my dad was carrying Dawn most of the time..because it was quite crowded..Poor them :(

I saw this tutu and asked my mom whether it is nice here.  She immediately turned around and said that the tutu in Malacca is different from those in Singapore.  The gula in the filling is just different.

This is it..bigger and very nice!!!

Next we saw this stall which has whole lot of steaming hot dim sum. Can’t resist!!!!

Look at the combination! Colourful and simply attracting the passerby to stop and buy some to try.  And it’s not a wrong choice! The meat is juicy and sweet and Dear biting the dim sum is like biting to those 小笼包!

Oh, we found Baskin-Robbins @ Makota!! The ice cream is nice, I still remembered I tried their ice cream in Japan Tokyo Tower with Dear. Eating ice cream in cold weather is really shiok!

For the 2nd day dinner, we went to Seri Nyonya @ Equatorial Hotel.

Some nyonya deco in the restaurant. Very nice right? It totally set you into a nyonya feeling..

Even the peanuts they served before meals are placed in the baskets!

And guess what is this cup for? They are our drinking cups!

The dishes we ordered are superb! No other words to describe.  My parents were starving and thus 2 Pie Tees’ were missing by the time I managed to take the photo! :D

I love this dish the best.  It’s brinjal with sambal chili. I am not really a brinjal person, but something inside me just wanted to order this dish. And it’s so good! Shiok!

And the ice kachang for my dad…Tall and filled with crashed peanuts on top!

And dear has this chendol..

Slurp!

We had our breakfasts in the hotel because its included in the package.  Look at Dawn, she loves her plate of bread!

Um!! She said it’s HAMBURGER! And she smart lo, in order to taste all the bread which her papa took for her, and she knows that she can’t finish all, she happily just took a few bites on each bread to taste them! Leaving the halves for papa to finish them. :D

These summarized most of  the food that we had in Malcca.  Oh ya, if the coach stops by Yong Peng, remember to try the fish ball soup there. Bouncy fish balls! :)

We had been to Fish & Co. many times, be it as a couple or with the little one.  It’s one of the easier choice when we have Dawn with us, because Dawn loves to eat fish!

Here’s dawn posing with the “fish”.

P1010384

And counting how many fish she has…

P1010385

I love the fried calamari…and dear love the grilled ones…but he will always let me have the fried ones :x

We order the kids’ meal size of the fried calamari but it is good enough for us. Looks delicious right? :D

P1010387

P1010388

Dear order the grilled fish with spanish rice for himself and Dawn.  And Dawn kept saying “好吃!”

P1010391

P1010392

I had their prawn salad…Nice salad sauce but a pity that the prawns were not too fresh.  Kind of spoil the taste…

Nov 18

…because we made it happen.

Fast as it can be, we had been together for 2 years.  Though cannot compare to my sister’s 12 years of marriage (which I envy leh! They are both still a sweet couple!), but we have both came a long way.

It wasn’t easy for any of us – me having to struggle with emotional baggages & burdens, plus all the worried thoughts that was resulted from the awful past experience; he having to do alot of explaining and convincing in the initial days, learning how to carry a baby and play like a kid, and rushed to send me home after a quick and short dinner because I have to be a Nine-derella.

I am not sure what’s in for us 50 years down the road, why him and why me, but I know there must be a reason for bringing us together.  Though we can have different perspective of things (and of 2 different extreme ends), I can’t help but notice that we can think of the same thing when we are physically at different places. Many a times, our smses met in the frequency realm because we both thought of each other and typed the SMS at the same time.

And so the relationship still smell so fresh everyday like breathing the morning dew, and the sweetness linger with the booster I need daily just like my coffee.

We are not able to meet on the actual day because he had class after work, and so we met 2 days later for a dinner.  The least expected, and the sweetest moment was, he walked towards me from his office building, with my favourite flower in his hands. Can’t stop smiling after that. :D

We had a good dinner @ Thai Express Holland Village. The food is nice, service is good, and I still cannot forget the big meatball and the stuffed chicken. I had the fried Kway Tiao and he had his favourite Olive rice (with lots of chilli!).  I enjoyed the time of catching up and I think I talked alot that night…haha!

I still have many conversations that I want to hold.  I still want to travel around.  I want to share all the bits of my life.  All with him.  And of cos with Dawn.

Nov 8

After seeing my beautiful pictures of the chawsiew & the roast pork, dear craved for the meat again. So we went back to Canton-i, but this time we wanted to try the Dim Sum.

The quantity of the meat is disappointing. It seem lesser this time round. But the prices is still the same -.-  Fortunately the meat still taste as good, if not it will be  so disappointing.

P1010325

A platter of meat with their sauces. Guess what’s the sauce on the right?

P1010326

Woooo nice meat! Fatty and good!

P1010327

Roast pork! Slurp!

We also ordered the various Dim Sum and we had a very good meal because most of the items tasted good!

We love the lotus rice (糯米饭)!  The texture of the rice is just so right. Soft but chewy, and there’s salted egg inside! :D

P1010329

P1010339

The chinese noodles (猪肠粉)is also stuffed with good quantity of chaw siew and the “粉” is soft and “melts” in the mouth.

P1010333

I don’t know what this is  called, but I think we ordered something that sound like a “dumpling”.  Was regretful when the dish was first served to our table.  However, after I bit on it, I think we had made a good choice.  The “cover” is made by 糯米粉, and it is so soft that I think I was decieved by it’s look.  However I do think that the filling can be alittle more.

P1010341

P1010346

Next, the cha siew pau! I am not a pau person, but looking at Dear & Dawn enjoyed the pau, I think they taste good.

P1010343

P1010347

I love their Siew Mai too! Full of meat and makes me feel that it’s worth paying for them. Haha!

P1010344

The carrot cake and the chicken feet tasted normal because I had tasted better in other places. :p

P1010335

P1010345

I also had the ice milk tea and dear had the hot tea.

P1010340

P1010336

Nice meal, but not too good for the pockets ;p

Oct 27

I forgot where I had that very nice white bait and dear reminded me that it’s from Akashi @ Paragon. And yes I had been craving for it and through these months, I had tasted the white baits of different restaurants but none is the same as the ones I had in Akashi. (And the worst so far was from Canton-i :< )

So here’s the very very nice white baits.  Though is fried, the inside is very soft and the white bait is very sweet! I can just finish the whole plate by myself :D But we do realised that the serving is much lesser than the time we first had it.  Haiz..inflation sucks!

akashi1

close up of the white baits!

We also ordered the  cold cucumber with miso paste. This is our favourite dish in Nirai Kanai but the miso paste is really in past form.  So when the waitress delivered this to us, we stared at the miso beans.  I was alittle deceived by the look but I could not stop myself from attacking this dish after the 1st bite.  The cucumber is so fresh and crunchy and it’s so refreshing.  It served as a good appetiser and I think it will be a good dish with beer too.

akashi5

I had the udon set and Dear had the Saba set.  Actually he had wanted to order another set but the waitress had heard him wrongly.  Well, he seems fated to eat Saba anyway. :p

Had salad for lunch for the past 2 days (because vegetables have a short life span and they come in a packets instead of one day serving! One day serving is damn ex!)

First day is just greens plus some cherry tomatoes.  I added in Tuna and raisins on the 2nd day.

Strange to say, having salad kept me awake for the afternoon instead of feeling sleeping infront of the PC over a usual lunch of noodles or rice.

Might decide to have Salad for 3 days in a week, but let’s see how long my determination will stay (which usually don’t when it comes to food). :p

Do you create your own salad too? Share how else you make your salad more interesting and tasty!

Looked through my posts and realised that I had not written much about food for a few months already.  Not that I had stopped eating (how can that be?!), but I was alittle tired to write about food.  Why, you might ask.  My folders in my lappy are full of food photos and somehow it had made me felt drained when the thought of having to blog all of them.  Strange me.

We were out to ION Orchard during the first few weekends where it was first opened. Really crowded at the Basements but it was quite empty when it comes to ground floor and above. And we found ourselves in Canton-i for dinner, which is at the corner of the 3rd floor in the shopping mall.

cantoni3

We ordered a couple of dishes, which includes their signature roast pork and cha sao. Both taste very good!

cantoni4

Look at the meat! Look good enough issn’t?

cantoni6

caontoni5

The shrimp dumplings are generous with shrimps but I do feel that the soup taste like it contains alot of MSG.

cantoni9

cantoni12

We had also ordered the beansprout but it was a disappointment to us. Nothing worth talking about.

cantoni10

But the biggest disappointment was the fried white bait.  I had wanted so much to eat the tasty white bait that I had eaten in another restaurant but this was a disappointment to us. Don’t quite understand why chefs do not know the basic of changing frying oil regularly or the food will turn out to be super er xin.  -.-

cantoni11

We also ordered the mince pork with steam egg, and I must say that it’s very good! Dawn loves this and kept asking for more!

cantoni14

And here is happy Dawn..waiting for food and saying that she has her bib ready!
