…. in Mt Alvernia Hospital…haha!

I think this stay is expensive, We can go HK 3D2N stay for 4-5 times with the same amount of money spent… ><;

Had previously requested for a normal single room (as my loving hubby want me to rest well and also to accompany me hehe), but by the time I delivered Eva, all the single rooms are taken already and we were asked to decide on Single room Deluxe or double room. The nurse told us that the double room will still be double room (which is different from what was stated in the brochures – in the event that single rooms are not available, a double room will be converted to a single room) and so hubby decided on the deluxe room.

The difference between  a single room and a single deluxe room was carpeted flooring & different views (one facing expressway and the other facing buildings). Haiz, made us spend more money :(

The couch is where hubby slept and he had to pay $75 per day for the meals and staying overnight.

Food!  Forgot to take photo of my dinner on the 1st day ‘cos was too hungry. Was given Confinement food – I remember it’s the pork vinegar and a veg dish. Can’t remember what my hubby had.

My 2nd day breakfast – Mee Tai Bak soup :

Hubby’s breakfast – look so good right? I always like American breakfast!

My 2nd day lunch, the minced pork tasted funny.. :(

Hubby’s lunch :

My 2nd day dinner :

Hubby’s dinner :

My 3rd day breakfast, this is the best meal that I had there….the pastry is so good!!

Hubby’s breakfast :

I finished all the herbal soup provided.  But they tasted like got MSG :(

Oh ya! I love the sandwich vending machine at the 1st floor of the Hospital.  It’s by Hotbake and the sandwiches are really nice!! Hubby bought me on the 1st day and bought it again for my suppers! Yummy!

We received hampers and gifts from friends, colleagues and our companies during our stay.

From my team – something which became our best friends for both hubby and me during the 1st week.  Ber also gave us chicken essence~ They know we needed them!

From hubby’s company :

And the things inside the hamper :

From my company, a baby rocking chair :)

Junhui gave us a angbao and Wen & Rine gave us a bag of diapers and a romper for Eva. Thanks to all these thoughtful friends!

Finally went out of the room to visit the nursery on my 3rd day there before I was discharged.

Didn’t know that Babies’ mothers can enter the nursery one…

Can you spot Eva?

There she is, the one in the center as we are going home soon!

This is my gynae, Dr Fong Yang.  Both Dawn and Eva are “caught” by him. hehe

So what did Mt A gave us?

An Agnes B look-alike diaper bag – which is big and good.  What I like is the zip opening is wide and big, easy to find and take things in and out. And lucky I asked my sis to help me buy a diaper bag organiser from China – cost me 70 cents only.  It’s like $10-20+ in Singapore!

Inside the bag there’s a big bag of reading materials, samples such as diapers, baby shampoo etc.

Mt A also have the left over diapers, this time round is Huggies.  Dawn’s time was Pampers! And also the left over wet tissues and the bath tub.

Dawn’s time still got a T-shit, a gold coin and a receiving blanket…they don’t give these out anymore.

Oh, there’s a free gift to be collected from the pharmacy too – they gave us an Avent NB pacifier.

And that’s the end of our 3D2N stay in Mt A.  Back at home now having confinement. :)

Something to share with mummies who are reading this blog..remember to ask for glass bottles from the nurses if you intend to use the glass bottles to store breastmilk.  I like the glass bottles because the size is just right to feed baby during their first few months. You can buy the caps and seals from the pharmacy @ 1st floor.

Also to ask for sample formula milk – it’s free.  They won’t give much, gave me 2 only, but it’s good to have it on standby or it’s just good for saving money! :p

3rd thing, remember to get the powder for putting on baby’s umbilical cord.  It’s important as it might be too late to get when you revisit the PD in 3 days or a week time.  I learned this from my experience with Dawn.  Eva’s umbilical cord was taken care very well as the powder kept it dry.  It dropped off in the 6th day.

With less than a month for the arrival, our preparations are quite on track (except for my work ><;).

  1. Bought 99% of the things we need (the 1% are things that we have not thought of yet :p),
  2. Took out all the things which we can recycle from Dawn’s baby days-checked and washed,
  3. Packed Junior 2 drawer with her washed clothes and things she needs,
  4. Trimmed my hair to last till hopefully after my confinement,
  5. Zap my bank book for application of the baby bonus (very important!)
  6. Submitted my maternity form required at work
  7. Most importantly, hospital bag packed!

This is my hospital bag.  This sweet pinkish bag was given by my 2nd sister before Dawn was due.  Used it for my hospital bag then, and I thought it’s nice to re-use again. It can contain alot of stuff!

Here’s all the stuff inside now.  There are still a couple of things not in yet, but they can only be packed in on that faithful day.

So what are the things to bring? Of ‘cos baby home-coming clothes + mittens + booties + a receiving blanket (can use a cloth nappy cloth instead):

My own home-coming clothes + the front button pajamas which I need to wear in the hospital for breast-feeding:

And the rest of the things such as disposable panties for pregnant mothers, pads (which I am using Sofy night pads instead of those loop pads), my faithful moisturiser, some sample packs of nipple cream (just incase of cracks after breastfeeding), some disposable breast pads… still lacking my facial stuff which can only be packed on the day.

I also drew a note and paste it at one of the prominent place to remind us of some other things which we still need to pack in before we head to the hospital, things such as gynea card, camera, phone charger etc

And the bag is now siting at the easy-reach place in case I need to leave soon…

Dear was still keeping his cool when I packed the stuff….until the last gynea visit we went last Tuesday where the gynea expressed concern that I had quite a number of contractions during the CTG check….. It was funny to hear him ask, the bag is ready? What else to pack? etc haha! :)

My colleague went to Taiwan for holiday and she helped me buy these 2 books! Love them!! Can’t wait for my own kitchen!

Feb 28

My eldest sis was a fan of this & somehow I got influenced after seeing all the interesting tools and beautiful bentos that was made. And especially with kids, the beautiful lunch boxes definitely help them to be less picky on their food.

As I do not have my own kitchen/house yet, it’s kind of inconvenient to try out the tools and bentos, but I have already started to buy some tools from the faithful Daiso. Can’t wait for our house to be ready! :D

During Christmas in 2010, as my parents went to KL and we are left alone in their house with lots of ham left over from the eve’s dinner, I decided to try out some of the tools to make some fun breakfast. Dawn and Dear join in the fun and I must say that it’s a great way to bond a family!

Here’s one of our creation, the bunny family!

And you know who get’s to eat what according to the size…haha!

On another occasion, Dawn also tried out cutting carrot using a flower mold at my sis place. Look at her! She’s like a very satisfied cook!

Nov 11

Nov is the month of Our anniversary! Not wedding anniversary, but our dating one :D

We don’t need fanciful presents, but I definitely want some quality couple time together.

Since we are both on leave for our baby detailed scan, we planned to have a relaxing afternoon tea in L’Espresso @ Goodwood Park Hotel. Dear wanted to go Shangri la, but because I think the walking journey will tired me out, so I decided to go to Goodwood Park instead. We shall try Shangri La next time!

I love the savories and dear love the sweets. So I ate alot of sandwiches while he ate scorns and tarts. You should be able to guess which plate is whose… :D

We can chose 2 drinks each and I chose the hot coffee.  Dear had his tea to go with the sweets.

Look at the pretty tea set!!

And I ordered the Chamomile Tea after I finished the coffee.

It’s quite a relaxing afternoon, with good drinks and good companion.  Hope we have the opportunity to do it again!

Oct 24

Brought a watch for my hubby!  We were choosing between a $300+ and a $100 watch, but dear decided on the $100 watch.  But it looks and feel better!

It looks good on my hubby!

It’s been long…

Yes yes, I am back.  Finally settled a-lot of things and we are more used to our lifestyle now.  And yes, the fact that I can write now means that I have shifted my laptop over!

Will be posting more updates soon! :)

And here’s my pledge :

I pledge to spend more quality time with my little one, my faithful soul mate, my dear family members and his dear family members.

With the current work responsibilities and the coming exams to further my professional education, it’s challenging to spend quality time with all my love ones. However, simple things such as having a nice breakfast, or over a coffee tea-break at home is a good way to spend time together.
Gambatte!
