What is Malacca if one never try the chicken rice balls, nyonya dishes and chendol?  It is like went to Paris but not seeing the Eiffel Tower!

We stopped by this restaurant at Jonker street to try the chicken rice balls for our early dinner.  It has lots of  celebraties’ photographs on the wall, stating how famous this restaurant is.

Apparently this place is not the best in the town for the chicken rice balls.  We were disappointed with the taste. The taste of the chicken is different from those we can find in Singapore. I still love the Singapore chicken rice..kind of felt that chicken rice balls are over-rated in Malacca..however, I may be wrong because we did not go to the right shop.

Malacca’s roast pork is also very different from Singapore style..the skin layer is much cripsy than in Singapore..

After the dinner, we passed by this stall.  I seem to remember that there were alot of good comments found in the Internet about the chendol they sell.

But look at the queue!! We made a grave mistake because we thought that since it’s only about 5+ and there’s a long queue, we will turn back and buy the chendol again.

WRONG! We did turn back and the queue was shorter…but their chendol was sold out! How disappointing :(

This is the entrance of the Jonker street..

We were there early and the streets were not closed for traffic yet. The hawkers were also busy setting up their stall…

Some random shots @ Jonker Street

Dear and my dad was carrying Dawn most of the time..because it was quite crowded..Poor them :(

I saw this tutu and asked my mom whether it is nice here.  She immediately turned around and said that the tutu in Malacca is different from those in Singapore.  The gula in the filling is just different.

This is it..bigger and very nice!!!

Next we saw this stall which has whole lot of steaming hot dim sum. Can’t resist!!!!

Look at the combination! Colourful and simply attracting the passerby to stop and buy some to try.  And it’s not a wrong choice! The meat is juicy and sweet and Dear biting the dim sum is like biting to those 小笼包!

Oh, we found Baskin-Robbins @ Makota!! The ice cream is nice, I still remembered I tried their ice cream in Japan Tokyo Tower with Dear. Eating ice cream in cold weather is really shiok!

For the 2nd day dinner, we went to Seri Nyonya @ Equatorial Hotel.

Some nyonya deco in the restaurant. Very nice right? It totally set you into a nyonya feeling..

Even the peanuts they served before meals are placed in the baskets!

And guess what is this cup for? They are our drinking cups!

The dishes we ordered are superb! No other words to describe.  My parents were starving and thus 2 Pie Tees’ were missing by the time I managed to take the photo! :D

I love this dish the best.  It’s brinjal with sambal chili. I am not really a brinjal person, but something inside me just wanted to order this dish. And it’s so good! Shiok!

And the ice kachang for my dad…Tall and filled with crashed peanuts on top!

And dear has this chendol..

Slurp!

We had our breakfasts in the hotel because its included in the package.  Look at Dawn, she loves her plate of bread!

Um!! She said it’s HAMBURGER! And she smart lo, in order to taste all the bread which her papa took for her, and she knows that she can’t finish all, she happily just took a few bites on each bread to taste them! Leaving the halves for papa to finish them. :D

These summarized most of  the food that we had in Malcca.  Oh ya, if the coach stops by Yong Peng, remember to try the fish ball soup there. Bouncy fish balls! :)

We had been bringing Dawn for short getaway holidays every year since she was born, how can we not do so this year? :) It’s not a means of pampering the kid, as she is unable to  differentiate a holiday and a weekend yet. It is rather a way to train her to accomodate to different countries,  to rest over at different places (instead of her own bed), to experience different things and of ‘cos to train myself to be courageous.

We had been to Batam twice since she was barely 1 year, Bangkok once when she just crossed her 1 year birthday and the trips had different mode of transport, ie the ferry and the plane. This year we decided on Malacca, partly because of the things we want to get over there, and also a different experience for little Dawn – a 5 hours coach ride and a super long queue at the customs -.-

So here’s the very excited Dawn and despite waking up at 6am, she still so happy and fresh when we boarded the bus at 8am.

Dawn seldom want to sit on her own, she finds comfort on daddy’s or mummy’s lap often. And of ‘cos the iphone became her past time…

P1010477

And of ‘cos sweet dreams.. the journey to Malacca :

P1010492

And the journey back to Singapore :

The rocking coach seems to be a good sleeping place for Dawn..

These are our bags, and they are not all…there’s another big samsonite luggage and Dawn’s pram at the luggage compartment of the coach.

P1010474

And this was the coach that brought us to and fro Singapore and Malacca. Both times when we stopped by Yong Peng, Dawn was sleeping and hence she missed out the nice fish balls and the tibits store! And the lovely Daddy stayed inside the coach with her while I went for my toilet break. :D   Oh, and the driver locked up the bus when he went for his break..so I was left standing outside with both my babies inside the coach :(

M’sia has alot of advertisement signboards on the side of the highway and I always think is such an amazing way to advertise .  You will never get to see such advertisement in Singapore..no space leh!  Imagine it on PIE? :p

We stayed in Hotel Equatorial and I must say it is a good choice, espically for families with young kids. It is convenient as it is just beside the new shopping mall.

Random shot in the hotel because I find the shot with 2 long stairs looks nice :D

Our room consist of a king size bed and an additional bed for Dawn.  Dawn were so happy to see the single bed and jumped on it and shouted “Dawn Dawn’s bed!” Very thankful that she didn’t jump on the king size bed and insist that she wants to sleep there..

The little bar area which I make milk for Dawn …

Our room is pool view and thus this is the pool view from the top! Nice pool!

Some other random shots of the skyline of Malacca…nice yah?

We went to Makota for our shopping and I can say that things found in Makota are much cheaper than things found in Makota Parade.  Makota is currently under renovation but business are as usual.

Parkson is inside Makota and cheap buy can be found inside there which will leave you feeling satisfied with the good buy :)

Opposite of Makota is the Makota Parade.  Padini is also a nice place to shop inside there.

This is the “wheel” that will give a bird’s eye view of the town.

Dawn were happy with the many Christmas Decorations in the shopping malls and hotel. And she took a few photos with them..

P1010495

This is my favorite photo..I was shooting their back views and both of them turn back to look at me at the same time, and gave me the same kind of smile at the same time.  Candid right!

Priceless!

P1010494

I will write another post on Malacca, and that will be the food we had there! :D

You can NEVER see such sight in Singapore.  Queue to board train? NO WAY!

I was surprised when I saw queues form on the boarding platforms. Such orderly queues…

I was reminded by Dear that I had not post any photos of our Japan trip till now…I gave a sigh and wondered why am I slogging so hard for my work ever since I came back from holiday?

Anyway, I decided to post some pretty cherry blosom pictures because they are just so pretty to look at.

Pardon me for not writing much words here because I am worn out now and can hardly think to write a good sentence.

Wah! Finally can post this! I had been encountering network issue these few days andI am at the verge of changing my hostingserver.  It’s super irritating when uploading a photo takes more than 3 mins and I cannot do a proper post.

Went for  a short getaway with Dear, Dawn, Ber and Jiji during the week where my parents went to Japan.  I had to take 1 week leave to take care of Dawn while my parents were away, so it’s nice that everyone is able to accommodate to these dates so that I do not have to take extra leave for this getaway.

There wasn’t very much information in the internet about Nongsa Village, but the few pages that we googled about had much praises for Nongsa.  With the very affordable price for the villa, we decided that it’s not too bad a choice.

It was a very laid-back holiday.  The place is perfect for a “nua-ing” holiday.  You can just stay in the villa to do nothing, but with lots of chips and TV.  Or, you can read a book or have a beer at the balcony which looks at the sea.  How nice right?! And a nice walk at the beach in the early morning is a refreshing start for the day.

It will be good if we had bought over more food to prepare ourselves.  And it’s a must to bring those mosquitoes coils or repellent.

PHOTOS! :D

↑ Our Villa, it is quite big right!  But I thought the entrance will face the sea, so that you can just open the door and walk down to the beach and sea. Instead, they have their entrance at the back, so that their balcony face the sea instead.  Not too bad too, ‘cos it’s nice to sit under the stars, drink a beer and enjoy the sea breeze at night.

↑ Our bedroom.  Quite spacious, but the beds are 2 single beds combined ..and very “squeaky”.  If I move alittle when sleeping, it will make such a loud squeak that I will be so worried that Dawn will wake up. And the aircon was very noisy most of the time ><;

↑ The kitchen and the dining room.  The kitchen is quite well equipped.  There’s a good medium-size fridge, rice cooker, microwave, oven and electric kettle. Numerous plates, bowls, utensils and cooking wares.  Hey, the plates and bowls werebought from Ikea leh!

↑ See the things on our table in the Kitchen! :D

↑ The living room, aircon was spoilt but it wasnot too bad because the aircon in the dining room is working.  But I went with an expectation that the living room is ventilated by fans, because their website said so.  So it was quite a nice surprise that there’s aircon in the living and dining room.  The reception for the TV channels were very bad..lol, it got worst during raining days. But better than no TV lor, so no complains…we still can watch the live telecast of the F1 race on Sunday!

↑ The balcony. But we didn’t have our beer here because I am scare of the insects flying around at night.  Got alot of beetles, mosquitoes, ants, big lizards and even bats! [shiver]

↑ The villa surroundings, our neighbours!

↑ The sea and the beach.  It’s a nice walk in the morning.  I thought we can build sand-castles but it started raining when we reached the villa on the 1st day. After that, we got lazy. ><;

↑ Dawn was thrilled with her bed.  I am really thankful that she is an easy young traveller.  She can sleep in the cot provided without fuss. :D

↑ The Nasi Goreng for my dinner and the A&W for our lunch. The nasi goreng is quite nice la. And the A&W brought us back memories.  :D

↑ Our super supper cook.  His specialty : instant noodles. Smell very nice de hor! See how Ber cannot tahan when he refused to take supper on the 1st night! He ended up taking supper on the 2nd night! ↓

↑ Jiji keeping Dawn busy with mummy’s PSP. See how concentrated this future little gamer was? :D

↑ Ber with Dawn. Can you see the mosquito bites on Dawn’s place? Quite bad :(

I am going for a short trip to Batam tomorrow! Going with Dear and Dawn, and 2 of our friends.  Will update more with photos when I am back!

Mar 31

Yes Yes I know…

It’s been more than a month since I blogged..

I am sorry!

I didn’t realised that I be “missed” :p Now I know… Greatly appreciated!!

So what had happened since the last I blogged?

I had my 1st HDB appt in end Feb. Everything was well. Having my 2nd appt this month!

I had a good holiday in Bangkok in March! Though it’s short, but it’s just feels great to finally able to fly out of the country again, after 3 long years! We had a very comfortable and nice room in Novotel Siam Square, and very cheap and nice food in Bangkok. And of ‘cos the shopping which I wished that I could have more… Didn’t really take photos for the trip as I didn’t bring my camera along, but dear had took afew of Dawn and himself. Will post it soon! :D

I had started playing World of Warcraft online..after the influence of Dear and Cindy… :p And that explains my MIA-ness from the blog.. But this game kept my sanity..kind of.. some who doesn’t know the essence of gaming had asked or questioned me why am I playing games instead of spending 100% of my time for Dawn.. the truth is, I need my sanity. Even pockets of time, the time-out period, I need them badly. It’s really that bad. I confessed I am not a very very patient person, especially with kids who still do not understand simple instructions.. Of cos I do not blame Dawn because she is very young! Do not get me wrong on this! I definitely enjoy the time I have with Dawn. Just that I need my time-out. I understand not all will understand this aspect because they themselves are not in the same shoes. So give me some breathing space will you?

Anyway, pictures to be posted next entry! :D
